MACCSKETCHERS, a local Macclesfield urban sketching group, meet every Tuesday morning to sketch Macclesfield and the surrounding area and they would like to extend an invitation to any of the symposium delegates interested in joining them.
They will be meeting on Tuesday 26th July, prior to the start of the Symposium.
For anyone interested, Macclesfield is a 20 minute train journey south from Manchester Piccadilly and trains runs regularly.
MACCSKETCHERS meet in Jack Sevens Art Café & Gallery, Chestergate, between 10.00am and 10.30am.
The cafe is a five minute walk from the station. As you are leaving the station look ahead and slightly to the right and you will see St Michael’s Church on the hill in front of you. Next to the church is the Town Hall with its large portico entrance. Directly opposite the town hall entrance is a pedestrian street, this is Chestergate. Jack Sevens Café is down Chestergate, about 80m on the right and access is through a narrow passageway.
Macclesfield’s heritage revolves around the silk industry as it was once the world’s biggest producer of finished silk. Very few of the numerous silk mills still survive but the infrastructure built around them does. There are numerous sketching opportunities.
